In the Hungarian stamping plant in Kecskemét a Caesar series automated guided heavy-duty vehicle, designed with a capacity of 63 tonnes, transports coils and plates between the individual areas of the Mercedes-Benz plant. The heavy sheet metal parts arrive by truck or rail and are placed on the heavy-duty AGV by an overhead crane. An additional coil bed fixture enables two coils to be transported on each trip. The vehicle, equipped with all-wheel steering and laser navigation, then drives automatically and precisely to the assigned destination and offloads the freight at the next station.
