Automated guided vehicle (AGV), High-bay warehouse, Pallet conveyor technology

The brand-name products from Unilever are omnipresent in Germany. Unilever therefore invested in the erection of new, fully automated logistics centre in silo-design in Buxtehude. BSS Materialflussgruppe was the partner for building a state-of-the-art and fully equipped facility for storage and distribution of packaging and raw materials as well as finished materials with extensive handling equipment for linking in re-packing and despatch. The facility started operating in the summer of 2008.

The driving factor and the heart of the facility is the pallet high bay warehouse which was erected during the first project phase (from August 2007). The 18 m high building, which was built as a silo structure, is intended for the storage of 3,000 different raw materials, 500 packaging materials and finished products from the personal hygiene product range. The 100 m long and 30 m wide warehouse provides storage locations for 10,000 Europallets on an area of 3000 m². That is an increase of around 4,000 pallet storage locations when compared to the old warehouse.
