The wholesale company for pneumatic and hydraulic components serves customers throughout Europe from its site in Kassel. BSS as the general contractor carried out the complete planning for the distribution centre with five-aisle, double-depth automated small parts storage for 60,000 containers. The facility is designed for a customer order volume of approx. 150 order containers per hour. The warehouse management system controls the lateral shelf picking for A items, these are equipped with 120 pick-by-light displays. The automated small parts storage area contains 3 double stations for order picking, where the multi-picking principle is used. Each station carries out the order picking for 4 customer orders simultaneously, taking into account all items already in circulation.
Hand-held radio devices are used for linking in the manual storage area, e.g. for large items or PU hoses. 12 packing stations carry out the despatch process, mainly via parcel service or as special packages. Navision is used as the host system.
