Knipex is setting up an automated production warehouse for stocking and removal for the assembly at an existing facility in Wuppertal, with BSS acting as open general contractor. The project consists of a double-depth automated small parts storage with 3 aisles and 13,608 container locations for storing finished and semi-finished products. The automated small parts storage is designed for a double cycle capacity of 100 containers per hour.
An extensive container handling facility with 2 transfer carriages is used for stocking and removal of the flexible assembly cells and delivery and removal of product containers at the multi-picking stations, furthermore for connecting the goods receipt area and the computer-aided packing stations.
Based on longstanding experience BSS is also carrying out the SAP customising in this project for the production link to the customer’s existing SAP system.
